Whew! They did it! A very well deserved win ... congratulations boys and thank you for a terrific hockey season.

Reminder that we are ending the season in style on Sunday April 18th with a parents vs players game, followed by a celebration at Don Cherry's (Eagleson Road, Kanata). Details:

Week of April 12th

Thanks to last night's semi-final win against C3, we are now set to play C1 for the 2009-10 Bantam C Championship title!

This week's ice time is as follows:

Thursday April 15th at 8:00 pm, Sensplex Scotia - Championship Game against C1. We are Home.

Sunday April 18th at 2:00 pm, Mlacak. Parents vs kids game ... followed by a team party, location to be confirmed in the next day or two - watch for an email. Please remove sponsor plaques from jerseys, and return both jerseys (washed), on wire hangers if at all possible, as well as the sponsor bars, to Coach Frank at the team party. Kids can wear their practice jerseys to the parent vs kids game.

Semi-finals Update

In what may have been the biggest upset in minor hockey history (thanks, Alex, for the emailed colour commentary!!!), Kanata C1 beat the unbeatable Stittsville C2 team last night in overtime (8th round shoot-out)! This means that the winner of our semi-final game on Sunday will play Kanata C1 for the championship on Thursday April 15th at 8:00 pm, Sensplex Scotia.

Wow.

Semi-Finals

Further to last night's win (yay, Spitfires), we are in 2nd place after the Round Robin and will be playing Kanata C3 (3rd place - I think they're called the Hornets? - Coach is Mike Langill) on Sunday April 11th at 7:00 p.m. (Jack Charron Arena). We are Home.

Stittsville C2 will be playing Kanata C1 (Coach Bob Thompson's team) tonight at 9 pm. If Stittsville wins, the championship game will be played on Friday April 16th at 8:15 pm, Sensplex Citizen. If Kanata C1 wins, the championship game will be played on Thursday April 15th at 8:00 pm, Sensplex Scotia. Stay tuned. Hopefully we will be playing in the Championship game!

Also, heads up - Coach Frank has booked ice at Mlacak on Sunday April 18th at 2:00 pm for a boys vs parents game, after which we will head off to a restaurant (details to be provided shortly) for our end of year party.

Rescheduled Round Robin Game

Last night's game has been rescheduled to:

Tuesday, April 6th @ 8:30 p.m. - KRC Rink Kanata C2 (home) vs. Stittsville C1 (visitor)

The date of the reschedule ice time poses a challenge to the semi final round because the game will have an impact on the standings for the teams advancing to the semi-final round. The top team will not change. Stittsville C2 cannot be caught. They are guaranteed a first place finish in the round robin. The final three spots will be filled by the Kanata teams; C1, C2 and C3. How the Kanata teams finish will be determined by the final game of the round robin. Based on total points, Stittsville C1 will not advance to the semi final round regardless of the results of the final game. However, they can have an impact on how the Kanata teams finish.

The teams earning 1st and 4th place (Stittsville C2 and ?) will play their semi-final game on Wednesday April 7th at 9 p.m., GRC (Goulbourn Rec Centre).

The teams earning 2nd and 3rd place (? and ?) will play on their semi-final game on Sunday April 11th at 7:00 p.m. (Jack Charron Arena).

Scenarios

1. If we win on Tuesday, April 6th, we will finish with five points. A win will earn us second place from the round robin. Kanata C3 will finish third, Kanata C1 will finish fourth. This means we would play on Sunday April 11th.

2. If we tie on Tuesday, April 6th, we will finish with four points. Kanata C3 will finish second based on the tie breaking formula of teams with the most wins in round robin play. We will earn third place from the round robin, based on the tie breaking formula of Goals For/Goals For + Goals Against. This means we would play on Sunday April 11th.

3. If we lose on Tuesday, April 6th, we will finish with three points, and be in fourth place. The standings will not change from the current standings. We would then play Stittsville C2 on Wednesday April 7th.

Tournament Championship Game

Those Spitfire boys sure are playing very strong hockey - so nice to see!!

All the game results are up to date on the Roger's House tournament website .

Our B Final is at 6:30pm at the Walkley rink in the Jim Durrell complex on Walkley Road. We play the West End Light'nin. Please try to arrive between 5:45-6:00 latest so the boys have plenty of time to get dressed. My other son's team that I coach has a playoff game at 4:30 at KRC so I will likely not arrive until 6:10.

Tournament Game 2 - NOTE LOCATION

A very good effort by the Spitfires tonight!

Please note we play at 3:00 tomorrow at Sandy Hill Arena, 60 Mann Avenue.

From the West: Take Hwy-417 (Queensway) to the Nicholas, Lees Ave exit. Take the Lees Avenue route (the one to the right) until you come to a STOP sign. Turn left and stay on this road until you come to a fairly major intersection. Greenfield, Mann, Lees and King Edward all come together here. Mann Ave is to the right. Turn right on Mann Ave. and Sandy Hill Arena is on the right.

If we lose, we are out of the tournament ... if we win, we play at 8 p.m. at Brewer Arena (100 Brewer - located at the corner of Bronson and Sunnyside (across from Carleton University). The parking lot can be accessed from Sloan or Bronson (no access from Hopewell)).

Game 2 depends on outcome of Game 1;CORRECTION TO LOCATION, SEE POST ABOVE we win, we play on Sat Mar 27 at 3:00 pm, Sandy Hill Arena (60 Mann Avenue); if we lose, we play on Sat Mar 27 at 3:00 pm, Tom Brown Arena (141 Bayview).

If we lose Game 2, we are out of the tournament. If we win Game 2, we continue and our next game is on Sat Mar 27 at 8:00 pm (arena to be confirmed, watch this space or refer to the Rogers House tournament site). If we win that one, we go on to a Championship game on Sun Mar 28 at either 6:00 or 6:30 pm (arena to be confirmed).

The schedule for our 4th and final tournament (March 26-28) is out. It is a 2 game minimum tournament, 4 game maximum tournament. After the first game we go down either the A side or B side. For the 2nd game onward we have to win to keep going. The times look good: 8pm Friday, 3pm Saturday, 8pm Saturday, 6 or 6:30pm Sunday. Directions to Manotick Arena (allow 30 min drive): Take Hwy-416 South. Proceed south on Hwy-416 approx. 14 km to Bankfield Rd. (exit 57). Turn left on Bankfield Rd. at the bottom of the ramp and proceed approx. 3 km to Rideau Valley Road. Turn right on Rideau Valley Rd. and proceed approx. 2 block to Ann St. (light). Turn right on Ann St. (Ann on west side, Bridge on east side) and proceed approx. 2 blocks to Beaverwood Road. Turn right on Beaverwood Rd. and proceed approx. 2 blocks to Doctor Leach Drive. Just a reminder that the Osgoode Rideau tournament is coming up on Feb 4-7. We don't have the schedule yet, but as previously mentioned it is possible we will have a game on the Thursday evening, and almost certainly on Friday.

We just got confirmation this morning that the West End Lightning Bantam C team has set up a game against us for this Thursday evening. They were the team we played back in November as an exhibition game and this time they are returning the favour and hosting a game against us.
